The untold stories of one of the world oldest vampires

Blood Craving

Craving blood is something I have tried to write about many times in the past and may be one of the reasons my early vampire novels (something which I only wrote a few of in the past due to my fascination with the private investigator and mystery genera's) weren’t all that successful. The trouble was that I tried to write truthfully about something that is difficult to describe and which many human’s already had strong impressions of, impressions that didn’t want to change. Now I will try again, but in a way that doesn’t require my thoughts on the subject to be explained through a fiction character.

Most humans think that drinking blood is like drinking anything else and therefore our cravings for it can be compared with a humans craving for say soda or water. This isn’t the case, however. The craving for blood is more like a craving for sex, though unlike sex, one can’t really live without it (though White Face Taint aside, most vampires don’t need blood every night and can go days, weeks and sometimes months without acquiring any. Like sex, however, the longer one goes without the it, the bigger the craving to have it becomes and the more disappointing that moment will probably be once it arrives, which can drive a vampire to go on a feeding frenzy, their minds and bodies determined to satisfy the craving in a way that matches the fantasies that had built up about it during the dry moments.
