Today it is commonly believed that sunlight will destroy a vampire and while this theory does have some truth to it since sunlight is very dangerous and damaging to the White Faces, it was never really a foe of the vampire until the White Face Taint emerged. That said, before the taint, most vampires did roam the night and therefore were considered creatures of the night, but that wasn’t because we feared sunlight (many Earthly creatures are night dwellers that aren’t harmed by sunlight), but because it was easier to go unnoticed by the masses, which was important to our survival.
The White Faces, however, do fear sunlight, which is why Hollywood and most fiction writers use it in their stories, but unlike those movies and stories, the White Faces don’t just burst into flame when touched by sunlight, or fall into a pile of ashes. Instead their skin is severely damaged and won’t repair itself, which, to me, once again proves that the vampire is some sort of natural creation on this planet (or maybe a result of something arriving from another planet - more on that later), one which goes through evolutionarily changes just like every other creature and which has natural vulnerabilities like other creatures, the White Faces being vulnerable to things like the sun and garlic and certain types of wood due to a sensitivity that the mutation in their bloodline has caused to develop within the vampire cells, something which could probably be seen and documented if anyone ever went so far as to do a study on the different vampire types.
